Bluebell Time

Today was the day for our annual visit to the Bluebell woods at Grey's Court near Henley. It's early this year - last year we didn't go until May 27th!
I think it's my favourite National Trust place that we go to - gorgeous gardens, interesting house, a maze, obviously spectacular bluebell woods and, new this year, a fantastic children's fort they've built inside a couple of giant yew trees, complete with sandpit and wooden swords and shields.
It's fantastic!!
It was a race against the clock to get there early while the sun was shining. The bluebells always look so incredible and vibrant in the dappled sunshine. As bad luck would have it the sun disappeared behind a cloud when we were only about ten minutes away! But it was still wonderful and the sun did come in and out throughout the day.
Until we were playing in the fort and then the thunder roared, the lightning flashed and the heavens opened!
Perhaps inside two giant yew trees wasn't the safest place to be but it was certainly dramatic.
All the other scaredy cats people were more boring sensible and headed away. Mr K reasoned that the trees hadn't been struck by lightning yet.....
When the rain got really heavy we all squeezed inside the princess's castle and drank hot chocolate!
Eventually the sun came back out and there was some more running around the maze before we headed home.
Another lovely day at Grey's Court. I can highly recommend it!

My Blips have been all over the place lately. I think I've caught up! Must, must, must try and a) remember to Blip and b) Blip on the right day!!
