Bavaria, near Mittenwald: the Schmalsee

A picturesque little lake on the road to Garmisch. Judging by the shadows cast, the view is an eastwards or south-eastwards one. The mountains in the distance must therefore be part of the Karwendel range, which marks the boundary between Germany and Austria.

This lake is variously called the Schmalsee and the Schmalensee, either can be translated as "Narrow Lake".
