Minutiae

We awoke to rain this morning, but by 9 it had cleared, and look, blue sky! A garden bimble was much more appealing than breakfast dishes, so off I went.

Our Daphne Korean Spice Viburnum* shrub is very plain most of the year, but in spring, it's transformed into a thing of beauty, both visual and olfactory, and utterly irresistible to lovers of tiny details. I love all the different views in the raindrops!

Speaking of tiny things, I've been meaning to share this link for some time -- it's a live webcam view of a hummingbird nest on Vancouver Island, B.C. The chicks are young, so there should be a couple of weeks of fascinating views.

If you don't have time for the webcam, do at take a look at the 36-second video at the top of the article. If you have a little more time, sit through two ads and then enjoy a wonderful time-lapse video of an earlier brood being raised and fledging ("Nesting hummingbirds on camera RAW").

* Corrected later: We had an arborist here pruning some of our trees, who told me the correct name for this shrub.
