Piggy driver
Poking about in the garden undergrowth, I came across this little stone ornament from way back. Piggy driver in his open-top car was a favourite of our daughter when she was a child. He sat guarding her Wendy House, now long since used as a garden store for the lawnmower.
In the intervening years, nature has been encroaching, and Piggy's car has turned from grey to green, the colour of the thick coat of lichen that now covers it. One thing hasn't changed though. He still looks as smug as ever: the bovine world's Mr Toad. Poop poop!
"There was smashing in of window and crashing in of door,
There was chivvying of weasels that fainted on the floor,
When the Toad came home!"
(The Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame)
