First hurdle
The first hurdle in running the London Marathon is to actually get a place in the ballot.
The time is fast approaching when the average club runner will simply not bother with it.
I really had no inclination to sit for an hour at midnight to get onto the Web site.
However, as I was awake at 5am I figured I may as well do it then.
The ballot closes at 150000, which was reached some time between 8 and 9 this morning.
I will run next year for either Teenage Cancer Trust or Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Perhaps both.
I have been touched and inspired by Stephen Sutton (Google Stephen's Story or search it on Facebook) who I met all too briefly last week. Stephen is a teenage cancer patient and gave a "Final thumbs up" from his hospital bed this morning.
One of my students has Cystic Fibrosis. I have found his fortitude and resilience inspiring also.
Next step: getting in and training.
