Stop and shoot the flowers.......

Lunch came and we walked....... I am looking forward to it now. I love the feeling I get. I may need to start walking more. Yup I said those words.

I came home with the full intent of working in the yard today. I have to attack the shrubs. I am a bit hesitant. The last time I trimmed the shrubs well there was an incident.
You see my dad bought me a hedge trimmer.

Oh this is a thing of beauty.

It looks like a mini chainsaw. Seriously, a mini chainsaw and not only do I own it....... Oh yeah baby I use it.
The last time I used it I made my dad come out and stand with me while I trimmed the shrubs. You see I had this feeling.......
Eye protection? Check
Long sleeves? Check
Rubber boots? Check
Extra extra long extension cord? Check
Depth perception? Hell no who needs that?

Now trimming a yew is an exact science. Trimming two on either side of the house is a pain in the butt.
I approached it carefully a layer at a time. You can't just go in and chop the heck out of it.
But if you start singing a song in your head and kind of zone out.........and move the saw thingy just right................you can see sparks and smoke and say "oh son of a b*#+h " as you saw through the cord.
I was so scared I threw the trimmer up in the air as I thought I was going to get electrocuted.
It landed in the middle of the shrub. I had to go all the way back to the shed ( my holy grail of cool things. I love my shed) to unplug it.! I was SO freaking scared.
The next conversation was like this:

"Dad you unplug it"
"Oh no Susie I'm not going to do it. You do it. "
"No Daddy you do it"
"You have the rubber boots on, I think I am going to go in and take a nap. I am exhausted."

(Yeah I am in my late 50s dad is in his late 80s and I totally wanted him to do this)

I unplugged it.
When Don got home he shook his head, went into my shed of ultimate coolness and got some stuff to fix the cord. I lost a few feet. It's ok. He is not afraid of electricity. He said he respects it. That seems to be the secret.
I kinda respect it now too.
I am also getting ready to trim the shrubs again........where are my boots?.............stay tuned!
