The Berlin Wall (2): Waldemarstrasse
I have identified this as Waldemarstrasse through Google Earth, which has a photo from this period showing walled-up houses in this same street. And I have another slide taken further along the street, with a big sign reading "YOU ARE LEAVING THE AMERICAN SECTOR" in large English, Russian and French lettering, then at the bottom in smaller lettering (perhaps an afterthought) in German as well. Behind that sign is a makeshift but sturdy wall, topped with barbed wire and blocking access to the street's continuation as Dresdener Strasse.
The north side of the street, which is the subject of this photo, constituted the boundary between East and West Berlin.
The buildings along the street will not have been repaired since the end of World War II. The blocking up of doorways and windows may have taken place before 1962, as this was part of the inter-zonal border and there would be no question of anyone living there. The building behind the wall on the right was again probably in the same ruined condition as in 1945. The other building, to the left, has clean glass in its windows and was probably occupied; perhaps it served as an observation post.
