St George's Day and our National Bard's 450th Birthday - a day to put the flags out and celebrate being English!

Went for a lunchtime walk around Chiswick

Number of people wearing anything relating to St George or Shakespeare seen - 0
Number of shops doing St Georges day/Shakespeare specials - 0
Number of pubs doing St Georges day celebrations - 0
Number of references to the 450th celebrations seen - 0
Level of pride in being English seen - 0

The only references to the English were a couple of places selling English breakfasts - (in various flavours of continental - Italian, Irish etc.)

Why can't the English celebrate being English!!!!
