The Infrastructure goes

This ruined jetty is at Ellenabeich, just across the water from Easdale on Seil Island. It is where, in the heyday of the slate islands, puffer boats and larger vessels docked to pick up slate to take it south to British cities or onto larger boats to take it to the Empire. Boats came and took the slate, leaving soil which had provided ballast. The soil was used to create gardens on very rocky island, thus enabling the islanders to supplement their diet. After the great flood of 1880, boats dwindled and by the 1930s demand for slate from here died out. The Jetty gradually rotted. It is still there.
