Family Time
We were the proper Walton family this morning. After an early rise and a monster cooked breakfast, we settled down for nearly four hours of work before packing up lunch and heading into the Dales. This is the gang, minus me, chilling out in Bakewell half way through our walk and after a lovely ice cream! We continued to walk for nearly five hours in total, ending in the pub at Monsal Dale with pints of beer and peanuts. It turns out that Pippa likes Amstel!
We headed to the cottage for showers and cleaning up and then went to a lovely little pub for dinner. Simply amazing food...venison for me, buffalo for Bex, berg cheeks for Paul and rib eye steak for Q. Amazing! Chocolate pots and caramel salted cheesecake for dessert...washed down with wines and gin and tonic, first class all round.
It will be remembered for the dinner where the car travelled down the road whilst we were eating! It appears that the handbrake wasn't properly on so the car rolled down the hill with the girls inside...one of those odd moments when we stepped outside after dinner and discussed where we thought the car was supposed to be and why it wasn't there! Anyway, no harm done...phew!
Home now for some rubbish TV and our last night together. It's been fab. And tomorrow is not only our last day but my three year blip!
