Cake Club...
Last night I found myself at Cake Club. It's a fortnightly event held at The Post Box Cafe on Wilbraham Road in Chorlton, Manchester. It's an event where you get to meet new people, talk about cake, make cake and eat cake. What's not to like? It's all part of the revival of home baking kick started by the BBC's Great British Bake Off.
Last night we made two types of Bread Pudding, the traditional and a Summer Fruits version. Then we made a Berry Pavita, a delicious but deceptively simple pudding made of circles of fruited tea bread dipped in a berry coulis, topped with summer berries and a little icing sugar. You do that three times inside one of those cool food rings that top chefs use to tower the food in expensive restaurants. You carefully remove the ring and you are left with the professional looking pudding.....
Happy Days at Cake Club....
