Snail on sorrel

I have quite a lot of sorrel in the garden because we all like sorrel soup!

I like this photo because the snail, just coming out of his shell, seems to be using the leaf as a pillow!

I've always liked snails and, when I was about 7, we were in France to see the family and had rented a couple of rooms in a lady's house. I used to play in the garden, collect the big snails and race them up the windowpanes to the horror of my cousins! One day I could not find any of my snails. I asked the concierge who took me into her kitchen to show me she was boiling them for supper!
