Tollcross and Edinburgh Castle.

Another lovely day in Edinburgh's capital, and a day off work. A few years ago, this view would have been totally different. Goldbergs department store would have stood a little back from the junction on the right of the picture, and a vast open spaces roughly tarmac'd after building demolition of a car park. Actually it looked pretty post Armageddon on a dark wet Saturday in November.

Goldbergs has gone, and has been replaced with a mixture of student, social and private housing. There the rather nice Twa Thin Laddies cafe, the yellow bit behind the single decker No 24 bus.

On the left, the boring Armageddon of a car park has been replaced by offices for the Bank of Scotland, and an empty shop that used to be MFI for about 6 months.

Actually, as Easter Monday is a bank holiday for some, Tollcross is a lot quieter than the picture suggests.
