Great Present

My best friend's name is Nibs. Well, it isn't, it's Naomi, but only her mum calls her that these days, everyone calls her Nibs for some long-forgotten reason. So when I saw this vintage book (no date inside, but a printed price, 3/6p) I had to buy it for her. Her birthday is in a few weeks so I'll give it to her then.

The blurb on the back is brilliant, it begins, 'what a real pal a pony can be, once you gain his trust!'. The main character is - brilliantly - called Billy Bunker, and it promises to tell of 'scrapes and adventures'. Quite excellent stuff in my view.

I did some sewing today. I made a stripey t-shirt from my Sewing Bee book. I ran out of over locker thread just before finishing the neck but I think it might look quite good when its done.

Met a friend for coffee this morning. Two lattes and I whizzed Charlie round the park in double quick time. He fell in the river! The river is overflowing and I think he didn't realise it was so deep. He trotted through the overflowing water that covered the bank, and I called him but he just carried on and then dropped right off the side. I panicked as he went right under but he bobbed up and swam back the the side. He came out covered in green bits, shook himself then went back for more. This, the dog who refuses to go into the garden for a wee if its even slightly drizzling.

Read another chapter of Northern Lights to Al. I asked him if he liked my Mrs Coulter voice as I'm making a big effort on it. He said he didn't notice.

Today at school they were making robots in maths. 'How can making model robots be maths?', my friend sighed. This is the sort if question I don't ask, not since they made sandwiches in literacy.

Speaking of which, (actual literacy, not sandwiches) Betsy has been chosen to represent her school in Battle if the Books. They have to read eight books and then take part in a quiz on the books as well as general knowledge against five other local schools.
