Mud Morganfield

The son of muddy waters is here in England with his band. A fantastic night of Chicago blues. They did it properly the band play 2 numbers first before the main man is introduced. And what a presence he has and although I never saw muddy, he looks quite like the pictures you see of an older muddy. The band was drums double bass, keyboards, guitar and harmonica, with mud perched on a bar stool on vocals. The harmonica was for once the dominant instrument in the band and we loved it. I also loved that the harp player was wearing dark glasses and brought his harmonicas on stage in a briefcase.

Mud can sing and has great presence between songs. It's kind of nice he comes and plays hear at a club that celebrates the rhythm and blues played by people like the stones who were so influenced by his father. Mud remembered mick jagger showing up at muddys house when he was 10 years old. So it's gone full circle now he is back where the stones started out.

It was real Chicago blues I was grinning from ear to ear.
