My 40th year

Waiting dogs......

This is a picture of my 2 best boys waiting for me to finish faffing around and go to bed so that they can too.

Early start today for logistical reasons, dropped the girls at Carole's and drove via a hideous traffic jam where they are building a new Booths supermarket, to drop Flynn-Bob off at the groomers (60 minute journey instead of the usual 20 mins due to the building work). Straight back via the same jam to the opticians. I bought some summery flowers for G and went to her house for a chat with Nicki. We stayed until I had to leave and collect Heidi.

Swimming lunch at Helens and we ate gorgeous salad in her sun trap of a garden whilst all the girls played outside, I love the sun! We collected India after swimming, drove to work to collect some meds, went via the hideous jam to the school shoe shop for school shoes and party sandals for both girls. At last we collected a very smartly clipped and powder puff soft Flynn-Bob and attempted to make our way home via the hideous jam. Unfortunately it was at its most hideous. Heidi has persisted and delighted in mispronouncing Booths (supermarket) as boobs since she was very little. There is one we go to a lot in the Lake District. As we passed this one being newly built she said 'is that a hospital being built', no I said its a new Booths, she was so pleased with herself as she said 'so if that's 2 boobs then we should call it boobies'.

We were crawling towards home and with only 10 minutes until the start of brownies we were almost about to pass the scout hut where it is held. I said to India, could you possibly go in your school uniform otherwise by the time we go past it, get home, get changed and come back you will miss half of it. Evidently not wearing brownie uniform is a corporal punishment. I phoned lovely Nicki and my sister to arrange my sister leaving the uniform in the porch and Nicki collecting it on her way to brownies with her daughter. Hurrah! We stopped at a caff and the lady made India a fab sandwich whilst the man made a big fuss over the very smart Flynn. Heidi was very proud. Then came a frantic phone call from my sister to say that as she opened the front door to give Nicki the brownie uniform Dylan had run out and legged it down the road. I felt the need for a large glass of wine fairly keenly.

Nicki arrived at brownies bearing uniform and the good news that being ever resourceful she had sneaked up on Dylan down the road and grabbed his collar, phew! Mark rang to say he has a dinner thing in Leeds tonight and he hadn't told me about it as had been hoping it would go away, a great tactic, but only if you are an ostrich.
