The Royal Military Canal at Hythe built in early 1800s to help defend the south east from the threat of invasion during Napoleonic war . About 30/40 miles from Seabrook to Hastings

While walking along the seafront towards the canal I saw a swallow, just arrived over the Channel!! Is this earlier than usual! Think he was the scout! Not seen many more yet!
