Superstitions

This has always struck me as rather odd, a single tree bang in the middle of a farmers field, this year growing rape.

When I was talking to farm worker earlier in April, he told me that it has been there 100+ years and the reason it hasn't been chopped down is that the (then) farmers wife hung herself there when she discovered her husband was having an affair.

Apparently it is half the size it used to be as it has been struck by lightening and it has a spooky name something like "hanging lady" which I cannot now recall (perhaps someone local knows the proper story). Anyway, even now no one wants to cut it down.

I thought today was the day to blip it shrouded in mist.
