A combination of getting up slightly earlier, being ready with the camera (even before coffee!), and perhaps these little birds getting a bit more confident...

They sure do go through the stuff quickly!

Not sure what they are, maybe some kind of tit? Tails aren't long enough to be long-tailed tits. And the coat of the male is too rusty-red to be a coal tit. Any ideas?
