Wow!

When I was first given my peony tree I had no idea what it would be like and as it didn't come with it's own gardener or pages of information on it's care I was worried it wouldn't survive.
The first year it grew a few leaves then died back to ground level in the autumn and I thought I'd lost it. It did the same the second year but the third year we had One flower-and it really had the 'wow' factor at nearly 9 1/2 inches across!
Each year it has thrown out 1 or 2 more flowers until this year when we have 9 and the tree is about 5' tall.
However it only takes a good downpour or a strong wind on flowers that big and they are done for, so I'm making the most of them while they are out. Perhaps next year I'll cut a few and see how long they last inside.
