Damson Gin
Our excellent friends Ron & Lynn are letting me use their gym as I push on the knee rehab. They're our old neighbours so its a little trip down memory lane and a chance to be nosey all at the same time as I can peep over the wall and see what the new people have done to our old house. In a strangely odd way they've changed so much, that despite me thinking its horrible now (really - who renders over original stonework and cuts down a stand of 200 year old trees that the house was named after...) it kind of fits - I walk past and just don't think of the place as being ours any more.
This blossom is from one of the three damson tree's that R&L have planted - I'm convinced specifically for the purposes of making damson gin - I mean there's not a lot else you can really do with damsons now is there. Much the same as the ridiculous amount of blackcurrants we harvest each year - they're nice - but they've got limited use. Perhaps I should think of them as more ornamental - these blossoms certainly brightened up the day.
