Out in Brussels!
Well the last five days were mental. Last minute trip with nothing planned could not have worked out better! The week of culture, hoon and gamble ended with me on the thalys back to Brussels trying to recover sleep unsuccessfully…
But wait! It doesn’t end here. Emma and her friend Katie (both pictured) are coming over to Brussels for the weekend and staying at mine. Which means after some balcony gardening with my mom (good times), the three of us headed into town to check out the Brussels nightlife. First stop: probably the only awesome bar I know, Delirium. After grabbing a beer downstairs (old times), we went to find a spot upstairs. And then Klara ambushes us out of nowhere! What was initially a gamble Brussels night turned into an awesome trip through all the best places of the city center.
We avoided the absinthe and tequila bars (picky Emma) and instead ended up in the “metal bar.” Unfortunately, I was expecting a bar made entirely out of metal, but instead it was a good times metal music bar I’ll definitely be coming back to, called Rock Classic Bar. Also, watching someone have their first flaming B-52 is always entertaining.
Then we hit a Brazilian bar called Canoa Quebrada. Second day in a row at a Brazilian, but this bar was much sicker! Probably something to do with the live samba band and the pure Brazilian vibe, all of which was so legit it brought me back to Brazil. I loved the whole thing… apart from my inability to dance.
We moved on to find some more places after. The first was “the peanut bar,” a chilled out place where we sat outside and ordered half a metre of various beers. Got a couple favorites out of it, wish I remembered the names… The second place was Celtica, where we ended up just dancing. At some point we got a taxi back home, style end of a great week!
And thanks Klara for the photo! The four of us halfway through the night in front of Brussels' most iconic landmark.
peace
