Signs of the times

This is part of a piece of artwork which stands on either side of the entrance to our historic High Street. The black rectangle on the furthest one is where the council have added to the effect with a 20mph notice.
Obviously meant to illustrate moments in the town's past, I can't really connect many of the symbols at all to where I live.
Across the road though there's this one, where even I can see that the windsock means Gatwick airport, and the aeroplane silhouette must be Concorde, which paid a visit once.
It's tough getting old and dim.
