Manchester sur Seine....

There's a little bit of Paris in Manchester where Brazennose Street runs into Albert Square. It comes in the shape of this Parisian style advertising pillar. With Manchester's magnificent Victorian Gothic Town Hall in the background it is advertising the St. George's Day Parade tomorrow.

I'd love to know where Brazennose Street got its name. I can take a stab at most of the city centre's thoroughfares and a lot of the back streets and byways but this street right at the heart of the city eludes me.
