Party on
Despite my ever-so-slightly tender head this morning, caused by the merriment at Café Maude last night, I was up early, rearing to go and help out my neighbor, two houses down. Six year old Mary Poppins had four of her little friends over for her annual gingerbread-man-decorating party.
Holy buckets of frosting and mountains of sprinkles, accompanied by reams of squeals and more sassy talk than my ever-so-slightly tender head really could handle. Fortunately, the fun factor outweighed it all by far.
When you study the cookie decorating skills, methods and styles of six year olds, it becomes quite evident what their likely adulthood professions might be.*

*Thin, even coat of icing, single color, carefully applied, staying within the edges of the cookie, sprinkles cautiously and sparingly applied ~ banker or accountant.
Thicker coat of icing, evenly and precisely applied, green pants, pink shirt, green tie made of sprinkles, belt made out of licorice ~ fashion designer, -buyer or fashionista with no limit on her credit card (that's not really a profession, though)
Thick, gloppy coat of icing, multiple colors smeared, marbled and swirled, no details, not even eyes ~ successful abstract artist.
Thick gloppy coat of icing, copious amounts of decorations that are then mashed and compacted into the icing by pounding ~ world famous chef.
Thin coat of icing, single color, removed, replaced by another color, removed and replaced by yet another color, all the while explaining the thinking behind the action, breaking the cookie and sneakily trying to glue it back together with icing ~ injury lawyer.

I would've blipped the more fancy ones but their lifespans were rather short, so this one is from the 3 year old in the group. It is bearded with no shirt, just green pants...don't know what to make of it as far as professions go.
Very successful party I'd say...perfect, in fact; we got the munchkins all sugared up and then sent them home with their parents.
