Tide's out

The mouth of the River Echaig where it joins Holy Loch, seen from Kilmun Arboretum this afternoon. When the tide is out, it's a surprisingly big area of land; this last winter it's frequently been flooded.

Lovely walk this afternoon; it began grey, as you can see, but by the time we were walking back it was sunny and quite warm. We heard a distant but persistent cuckoo (singing a slightly flat 4th, if you're interested, rather than the 3rd that Delius replicated), and saw a raptor that we thought was perhaps a buzzard but which seemed to have black bars on its wingtips and a white throat.

Magic.
