Pea shooters

Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris ) is a common plant found along hedgerows the borders of woodland and road verges.

When I saw this growing shoot it took me back to my boyhood in Essex where we took a section of stem from a mature plant and stuffed a chewed pellet of the flowers into the hollow centre, using it as a pea shooter to cause havoc among the girls on our walk to and from the local infant school.
