"La Traviata" was superb last night.
We knew we were in for a treat as Diana Damrau (who has just won Opera Singer of the Year) was to play Violetta. She was quite exceptional. I love this opera and have seen it several times, with different heroines. Last night, I saw perfection.

And my hero, baritone, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, was Alfredo's father. He's a very convincing actor as well as having a magnificent voice.

This was the dream team. Yes, I suppose we could have had Vittorio Grigolo as the wet hero, but there is only so much anyone can take ;-)
