Male Orange Tip Butterfly
I went for a walk along the Shropshire Union Canal near Ellesmere today. There was a lot of wildlife to see and I had a difficult choice choosing a blip but I do love orange tip butterflies and this one posed for me.
There were mallards with chicks and a pair of goldfinches feeding on the dandelion seeds at the canal edge. There were lots of orange tips around as now the lady smock is flowering and that is the food plant of it's caterpillars.
A visit to Wood Lane Nature Reserve finished off a very enjoyable afternoon.
