Darcy, Nene and Helen

These three drummers were sitting in the ruins of Knowlton Church.

This Norman church, which was built in the 12th century, is situated at the centre of a Neolithic henge earthwork. The pairing of the henge and the church symbolises the transition from pagan to Christian worship, and is an unusual combination of a church within a Neolithic Henge.

The drummers, felt a spiritual emotion when sitting here in the solitude and playing their instruments.

Behind the ruin are two very ancient yew trees, which I showed in a photograph last year

These yews have been transformed in a shrine by people attaching mementoes to the trunk and branches. Perhaps in memory of someone, or a thanksgiving or prayer.
