Lanzarote Wines
I'm reliably told that the weather in Scotland turned bad at the start of this week. So it was lucky for us that we'd jetted off to some sun in Lanzarote for a week.
After arriving on Monday we spent Tuesday visiting the national park and touring the old extinct volcanoes which form the basis of the entire island. Then we sampled some of the various vineyards spread across the island. Because of frequent high winds each field has numerous little hollows dug out of the black volcanic earth in which all the individual vines are planted. We're not sure what standard Lanzarote wine reaches, but for us wine novices it tasted fine!
