Dad

Yesterday marked five years since my dad took off for his next great adventure. He left behind many things for me, mostly tools and memories. Here, I gathered a few of his tools - hammer, folding rule, socket, ratchet, his last gloves for his giant hands - on top of the tool box he built in the early 1940s. His "font", evident here on this ratchet, shows up in my writing, mostly my W's and d's. Even my hands, while not as large as his, resemble his massive mitts. Now, cleanly shaved, I even look like him more than ever.

I don't know what happens after this life. I just don't know. But I know that most of the time he doesn't feel very far away.

We're here for such a short time…it can't possibly end with one trip around.
