Elk crossing

This is one of about a dozen Roosevelt elk - Cervus canadensis roosevelti - I came across while driving into the backwoods of Vancouver Island for a spring fishing expedition. I've seen plenty of "elk crossing" signs along the road since I moved to the area about a decade ago but this is the first time I've spotted one.
