Myiarchus cinerascens
#65 - BlipBigYear 2014
Ash-throated Flycatcher, McLaughlin Natural Reserve. From my weekend field trip with my wildlife techniques class to Lake County in central California. The genus Myiarchus includes many species of mostly neotropical flycatchers, all of which look just about the same. Ash-throats are distinctive among them for nesting in cavities, rather than building an open cup nest.
