Fish Hawk

Took my camera for a drive today. Ended up out at the, you guessed it, egrets :) On the little bridge I cross to get there, there is a large nest. Well, today the Osprey (sometimes called fish hawk or fish eagle) pair were readying the nest for laying. I parked to watch and one caught a fish, flew up to the nest, flew back down with the fish still in its talons and landed on a piling right in front of me!! He ate at the fish for about 10-15 minutes then flew back up and gave the rest to his mate. They flew back and forth to the nest with large twigs sometimes soaring right above me. I watched them for quite a while even after it started to rain a little. Something else to watch for... Osprey babies!!!

Happy Sunday
