First Christmas Eve upside down

After hectic cooking up a storm in the morning, I collapsed on the beach for the whole afternoon. Very unusual start to Christmas. But summer's started here at last and it was a beautiful day and a great evening to have our Christmas Eve dinner outside. Again, very unusual.
Kids run like madmen, we ate half of a bucketful of trifle and now I'm suffering quietly that I cannot hold up my tradition of opening presents after dinner. It is not fair that I have to wait till Xmas morning.
