My Best Efforts - Year 3

By AMC

Self Seeded.........

..........,and making a nice splash of colour when a lot of other things are fading and past their best.

Anni is on her way - she is taking me to the Eye Clinic at Lincoln to have another examination and undergo more tests.
Hoping we may get some indication as to whether our holiday (or at least mine) can go ahead. There are still more tests still to come!

BOUI for today:-

1) There are many stories about calendula.
One is the story of the four wood nymphs who fell in love with Apollo, the sun god. The nymphs became so jealous of one another they began neglecting their duties to Apollo’s sister, the goddess Diana. She turned them into four dull-white marigolds, which distressed Apollo, but his only recourse was to send down his most brilliant rays to color them gold.

2) Romans and Greeks used the golden calendula in many rituals and ceremonies, sometimes wearing crowns or garlands made from the flowers.

3) Throughout the ages, tinctures made from calendula blossoms have been used to treat headaches, toothaches and even tuberculosis. It was used to treat scorpion bites and stop wounds from bleeding.

4) Cosmetic Use: The yellow or orange flowers produce a dye for the hair which women use.
Marigold water is soothing to the eyes and the flowers provide a face cream which leaves the skin smooth and silky.

Weather rather cloudy but the sun is trying to get through. Temperature is around the 53 Deg. F.

Have a nice Tuesday.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my MonoMonday:lines yesterday.
