Capturing small moments..

Seashell Staircase

The spiral staircase inside the Monument that leads you to the top of this historic landmark (built 1677). It’s on my ‘to do’ list to climb up the 311 steps, when the weather is better so that I can capture spectacular views from there.

The Monument was designed by Christopher Wren, architect of St. Paul's Cathedral, as a memorial to the Great Fire of London. It was the tallest monument in Europe at the time it was built, 210 feet tall.

Did you know - that if it were laid on its side, the golden flames at the top of this masterpiece would be exactly where the fire started in a bakery on Pudding Lane.

Nice touch Wren!
