1066 and all that!

Gloriously sunny and warm day. We had a trip to Hastings, stopping first at Battle Abbey. We watched the short video to remind ourselves of the history and then walked around the site, stopping to look at the field and reflect on the conflict all those years ago. After a walk round the abbey we had a picnic in the sun.

Then on to Hastings, a quick walk along the front and an ice cream - well, you have to don't you! We didn't fancy the walk up the hill so took the car up to the castle. We got in just as he was about to lock the gate but he was very kind and allowed us time to look around and watch another video. We certainly renewed our knowledge of history today. It was glorious up on top of the hill.

Having been at a seaside town we just had to have fish and chips when we got home ... saved cooking anyway.
