Burniston near Scarborough
In the words of A E Housman -
" Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough... "
In this poem he expresses his sadness that
the passing of each year means fewer remain
" to look at things in bloom" and so in his last lines -
" About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow "
We would like to think that the sheep in the meadow
with even fewer years to pass are not unaware of this
Springtime glory.
