Amsterdam Public Library
After a walk from Dam Square to Centraal Station, we stopped for a really nice lunch at De Schreierstoren on our way to the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam.
The library is in a modern building on the waterfront less than a kilometre from Centraal Station. Completed in 2007, Europe's largest public library, 28,000 m2, was designed by architect Jo Coenen. The views from the 6th and 7th floors where this photo was taken, are amazing. We looked out to the lake as well as to the buildings facing Prins Hendrikkade and the City Centrum skyline beyond.
After visiting the library and before heading home we walked through the Nemo Science Centre, which is a fantastic place for kids, and admired the views of the lake from the other side of the IJ tunnel.
