Ephemeral Beauty

Blueberry buds in fading evening light.

A memorable evening on Monday with my daughter (thanks to Phil for this lovely photo), being transported by violinist Hilary Hahn's remarkable musical gifts. Our seats were five rows from the stage, and the music filled our hearts, as well as our ears.

Bellingham and several other small American cities, as well as international cities of considerably greater stature, such as Montreal, London, Madrid, and Berlin, were among those welcoming Ms. Hahn's 14-city concert tour with pianist Corey Smythe this spring.

(If you'd like to hear Hilary Hahn, I recommend this YouTube video of her playing Vaughan Williams' evocative The Lark Ascending with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sir Colin Davis. It is 16 minutes of utter bliss; close your eyes and enjoy it.)

(I will begin to catch up with you all on Wednesday.)
