Meanwhile down Gumbo river

My nephew was involved in the building of this bridge about a year back, which at the time struck me as a bit of an overkill in terms of the size and height above the water. It straddles the Heathcote river in Cashmere.

This is on the day after the latest floods and from the look of the crap on the road the river got a foot or two higher than this.

The river had a bit of a gumbo look about it today and was flowing swiftly. Hopefully we will get a few sunny days and things will dry out a bit.
