The March Hare
I'm sure every town has it's share of closed and boarded up pubs. I blame the breweries for the way they increase the prices all the time. This one used to be busy with the building trade. During the last recession it was used as a sort of job centre. Bricklayers might need a plasterer and plumbers might need electricians.
I'm sure the name of the pub refers to a court case where several college students kidnapped the coffin of Henry Trigg from a house in the Old Town and held it to ransom. The youngsters were said to be infected with March Hare madness. The coffin was recovered and returned to the house which is now the Nat West bank on the High Street. It remains in the rafters to this day. Henry had a mortal fear of body snatchers and so insisted in his will that his body be kept in his house.
