Non Emergency 101
Today's blip is completely unrelated to the title or today's drama; it's just a ladybird basking on the solar light in the garden.
The title refers to the call I made to the police, via the 'non emergency' number (101) when I arrived at work, to duly report a very dangerous driver who I was unfortunate enough to encounter on my way to work.
He started by tailgating me at an alarmingly close distance; when I put my hazard lights on to warn him to back off, he drove even closer and gestured to me to to pull over into the left hand lane.
This was something I wanted to do, as my exit was approaching, but there were other cars in my way.
As he was so close, I couldn't see his registration plate, but I could see he was on his mobile; clearly this was in his lap as he had one hand on the wheel and kept looking down to his lap.
Ordinarily, I would reduce speed to be able to tuck in behind the car on the left, but this wasn't an option with this prat so close behind.
I gestured back to him to say where was I meant to go, all the while my exit is fast approaching so I had to accelerate to get past the traffic.
As I did this, so did he and he followed me into the left hand lane (still almost bumper to bumper) and onto the slip road.
At this point, he swerved his car to the left and how he didn't clip my car is a miracle; before he swerved back to right and onto the main carriageway again.
I managed to get his registration number as he drove off, so when I arrived at work, I rang the police to report him. She took all the details and asked if I would be willing to make a statement; of course I said yes! They are coming to do this tomorrow.
I was really shaken up by it all; not great when you have to work with sharp, pointy things in people's mouths!
