Dropped Scout at the vet this morning to have his leg amputated. Very stressful and tearful event but after four months it had become clear that the neurological damage meant he was not going to get his function back in that part of the body. Recovering at home now. We just need to get his rehab right and get the boy back with his loving personality intact. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes …

Big weekly staff briefing at work. Normally this is well attended but this week everyone but everyone tried to stuff into the kitchen and we had to take it out into the main office. The reason for the high attendance being that it was flagged as a briefing on some changes to staffing and organisational development which would affect peoples’ jobs and roles. I was in a very buoyant mood for some reason today despite Scout’s ordeal. It may have been the album I was listening to whilst working (Faithless Greatest Hits) or it may have been the sunshine. Or the moonlight. Or the good times. Or the boogie. But I think it’s because I felt things were moving on at last. I hate not moving forward when you know you have to. Bit like putting off the dentist; the pain of delay is worse than the pain of facing up to the future. I’ll be glad to finish our bedroom project this weekend for the same reason. Aged P was 92 years old today. Her life has changed for the better since she moved into residential care in November. Had a very happy day by all accounts. Another year closer to her centenarian status. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes …

And finally: The picture is of a colleague leaving the NHS to go into the private sector. Known him a long time. Shape of things to come? Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes …
