A Walk Through Deb's Life

On Ice

Strange Christmas Eve weather here. It's been raining for 12 hours and it's hovering right at freezing air temps. You'd think it would be snow, but it's been wet, runny, slushy, drizzly, drippy, moist, rivers of rain falling from the sky. Sad too, because it's washing away all the snow that we had Tuesday. Beautiful white puffy stuff...now slush and mush. Even stranger is the creaking and cracking noises all the tree branches and bushes are making when the wind blows. It's the ice but it sounds like all the branches are cracking apart. Many branches have broken or split but it's impossible to tell yet, because the ice still clings to every crevice of every branch; some of which are bent and hanging over onto the ground.

It was a glorious Christmas Eve for my Taxman and me. I was feeling sorry for myself because the kids weren't with us (we have to share with the in-laws, sigh). But I started out with yet another soap customer coming over to buy whatever was left on the bare shelves, then we headed out and bought ourselves some cross-country skis, then church, followed by an off-the-wall incredible light show at one house. One house! We read about it in the paper this morning and it did not disappoint. You drive up and turn your radio to a certain FM station, then slowly follow the line of cars cruising by the phenomenon, watching a musical light show - millions of colorful lights dancing to whatever songs are playing. It blew my mind. It reminded me of the Bellagio Fountain/light display in Las Vegas. We loved it - just the two of us. Silly.

C'mon snow! We're ready to TAKE YOU ON (with our new skis).

Have a Merry Christmas blippers everywhere...
