A story revived

This epic journey across the Australian outback was taken in the 1970's when I was living in Perth, so I remember it being reported in the press then.
First published in 1980, it has now been reprinted and made into a film, just released.
Has anyone seen the film yet?
Nothing like this really, but in 1971 we made the journey across the Nullarbor plain from Perth to Canberra in an old VW camper van, when there was still 300 miles of unmade track in the middle!
We camped out at night, miles from anywhere, with our two dogs happily chewing sticks into the night !
But I wish I had written a diary, and taken photos!!
No blipping in those days!!
