At this time of year, a few weeks after the new registration becomes available, the dealer's forecourt fills up with lots of shiny second hand cars for sale, their previous owners having part exchanged them for a brand new vehicle. The dealer is probably quite anxious to sell them as soon as possible to meet his sales targets and keep his turnover up, so up go the "Sale" notices. Whether the prices are really any better than at any other time is questionable - after all, there is no way of comparing with pre-"sale" prices, as these vehicles were not available then.
