Moving Into The Unknown

Paul

Paul is 57 years old. He told me he moved to the US from China in 1968 with his parents. His accent suggested to me that his family may have spent more time in Russia or one of the former Soviet Republics than in China. Certainly one of the nicest men I've met on the streets, he was so eager to talk. He told me all about how he used to work in Oregon's timber industry felling huge trees until things bottomed out awhile ago. Paul currently stays in a homeless mission shelter because the local police convinced him it would be safer. "It's a good place," he said with an earnest look. "It's free and I have no money, no family."

Your eyes, your gentle spirit and your words moved me, Paul. Thanks for sharing a little of your yourself today.
